The restoration of the High Point Lookout Station begins. Brad Eells, Bill Bollenbacher, John Kennedy, Chuck Moran, Bret Thorne and his wife were on hand to help with the project. Thank you everyone for your hard work!

The top layer of linoleum flooring and a subfloor layer had previously been removed to reveal the original tile floor. Water damage was detected in 2 places on the original subfloor and would require replacement.

This weekend, March 28th & 29th we were able to accomplish the following:

  • Remove and replace rotted subfloor.

  • Remove wall materials including paneling, molding and insulation.

  • Remove and store east and west window shutters.

  • Repaint caution stripes on tower legs and stairs.

  • Remove damaged window sills.

Next up on the work docket:

  • Install replacement glass and glazing.

  • Install new subfloor layer and new VCT floor tile.

  • Install new insulation, building paper, paneling and molding on walls.

  • Install refurbished window sills.

The cabinet making team is currently working on the Fire-Finder stand, wardrobe, kitchen cabinet, table and an open shelving unit.
