Mount Woodson is located in San Diego County between the cities of Ramona and Poway. The elevation is 2901 feet.

The first lookout was constructed in 1936 most likely by Civilian Conservation Corps crews for CDF.

The first tower was an 80 foot tall steel, X-Brace with a 7x7 Aeromotor observation only cab.

A plan BC-201 Fireman/Lookout residence cabin is ground mounted next to the tower, shown here under construction.

The original structure was replaced in 1950 with a CDF plan 809R design octagonal cab.

The tower is a non-battered, enclosed K-Brace of 30 feet.

The second and third stories housed living quarters for the lookout operators.

The lookout is identical to the structure on Boucher Hill in Palomar Mountain State Park.

This lookout was apparently destroyed by fire and replaced in 1968 with a tower that was dismantled in the 1980's.
