Los Pinos Fire Lookout is located in southern San Diego County near the US/Mexico border near Lake Morena and the Corral Canyon OHV park.

The 13x13 CL-30 series steel cab is set atop a 30 foot L-1600 steel tower.

The current structure opened in 1964 replacing the original tower from 1925, seen below.

Cleveland National Forest employee Norm Mitchell has staffed the tower for many years. The lookout is unofficially known as "Norm's Place".

The tower has electrical service, running hot and cold water, telephone, and a shower located in a service building below. All the luxuries of home!

The road to the lookout is paved. Norm will generally welcome guests any time Thursday--Sunday.

Spending time at this tower with Norm is a real treat for any lookout enthusiast!

Los Pinos Lookout will remain professionally staffed for the foreseeable future.
